r II I I l CAMPUSNEWS Engineering Team Fares Well in National Competition In June 1998 a team of Cedarville College engineering students took part in the Supermileage competition in Marshall, Michigan. Supermileage teams design and const:rnct cars with outstanding mileage by using lawn mower engines. Of the 32 schools that entered the competition, only 17 had cars that qualified. Cedarville was the only team to qualify two vehicles for competition. Their car Eklektos took fifth place with 481 miles per gallon, and the Extasis finished eleventh. Technology Resource Center Nears Completion R enovation of the former chapel building into the Technology Resource Center will soon be complete. Designed to provide Cedarville students with access to state-of-the-art computer technology, the Center includes two 84-seat classrooms with advanced technology teaching stations, four computer classrooms, the DP&L Technology Training Center with video conferencing capabilities, a commuter lounge, and new faculty/staff offices. The former chapel building was used for offices and other activities following the October 1996 completion of the new Jeremiah Chapel in the Dixon Ministry Center. The new Technology Research Center further positions the College as a leader in campus computer networking. 14 Torch College Hosts Fundamental Baptist Fellowship Association The College hosted the 36th Annual Conference of the Fundamental Baptist Fellowship Association July 13-17. The conference's theme was "Doing Today What Will Count For Eternity." The conference included seminars entitled "How to Prepare a Heart for God," "Fruits of a Heart for God," "Consequences of Not Having a Heai1 for God," and "Maintaining a Heart for God." Conference speakers included Dr. Warren Mattox, pastor of Community Baptist Church, Cleveland, Ohio; Dr. Chris Miller, associate professor of Bible at Cedarville College; and Dr. David Graham, pastor of Grace Baptist Church in Cedarville. The FBFA is an association of predominantly African-American congregations. Its president is Dr. John McNeal, pastor of Atlanta Baptist Bible Church, Atlanta, Georgia.
