Liberal Arts
The
Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in liberal arts,
having the breadth and depth of a traditional liberal arts degree,
allows some student flexibility in choosing courses. It is expected
that students completing this degree will go on to graduate school,
medical school, law school, or a school of theology.
Students must apply to the program to gain entrance. Students
can apply at the end of the second semester of the freshman
year for entry into the sophomore year. To be considered for this
program, a student must meet the following requirements:
5. Maintain a 3.25 GPA or higher
6. Supply two faculty recommendations.
Freshmen may enter Cedarville University as a liberal arts
major with provisional approval if they have either a 27 ACT or
1210 SAT and a 3.5 high school GPA; however, they must meet
the requirements at the end of their freshman year in order to stay
in the program.
A liberal arts committee made up of one faculty member from
each area of the core will decide if a student will be granted entry
into the program. The appropriate faculty member in each area of
the core will serve as the academic advisor. The chair of the liberal
arts committee will sign as department Chair on all forms.
The liberal arts committee will approve all programs decided on
by the student and the advisor. Proposed programs and capstone
projects must be approved by the end of the sophomore year.
Students must include a study abroad component within their
four years of study. A summer travel study experience would
satisfy this requirement.
