Page 96 2025–26 Graduate Academic Catalog School of Nursing Master of Science in Nursing Certification Graduates of the Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) track are qualified to seek national certification through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), or American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN). Graduates of the Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) track are qualified to seek national certification through the American Association of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board (AANPCB) or American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Graduates of the Nurse Educator (NE) track meet the education requirements to sit for the Certification for Nurse Educator (CNE) exam through the National League for Nursing (NLN). Graduates of the Nursing Leadership in Healthcare Improvement (NLHI) track meet the education requirements to seek Certification in Executive Nursing Practice (CENP) through the American Organization for Nursing Leadership Credentialing Center (ADNL-CC). Graduates of the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner – Primary Care (PNP) track are qualified to seek national certification through the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB). Licensure Prospective students should be aware that each state and U.S. territory may have different professional licensure requirements governing nursing occupations. Cedarville University ensures that its educational programs meet the educational prerequisites for professional licensure within the State of Ohio; however, if you reside outside of the state of Ohio, you should contact the Director of Graduate Nursing Programs at Cedarville University regarding the rules and regulations pertaining to licensure and clinical supervision in your state/territory before beginning the DNP and MSN programs. Students are strongly encouraged to check with their state licensure board to confirm licensure requirements and to obtain additional guidance as needed from that board and the Director of Graduate Nursing Programs at Cedarville University. Admission Standards Admission to the Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program requires meeting the University's general admission criteria, application requirements, and the following: 1. Evidence of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. 2. Official transcripts confirming a BSN from a regionally accredited or otherwise approved institution with a GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale. • Transcripts must verify completion of college-level nursing research and statistics courses. Admission and enrollment require documentation of successful completion (≥ C-) of both courses before the enrollment date. • Applicants with a GPA of 2.5 to 2.9 may apply with a petition demonstrating academic potential, which will be reviewed only after the application is complete. Completion of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is optional; however, taking the GRE may strengthen a graduate application. 3. Evidence of active, unencumbered licensure as a registered nurse in the United States for clinical experience. 4. RN work experience. 5. One professional or academic reference (faculty member or supervisor) and one Christian character reference (pastor or mentor). Family members and personal friends are not eligible to serve as references. 6. Completion of two essay questions (250-word maximum per question), which will be evaluated based on overall content and writing competence. Admission Process and Timeframe Applicants should follow specific admission criteria found in the Admissions section of the Graduate Academic Catalog. The School of Nursing Graduate Admissions, Progression, Retention Committee reviews MSN applications on a rolling basis. An interview may be required. There is no published application deadline. Graduate Enrollment notifies applicants of the admission decision. Tuition and Fees The estimated cost of attendance equals basic costs plus variable costs. These are estimates and may vary. Prior to each term, a student will receive a billing invoice, generated from the Cashiers Office, based upon enrollment information at that time. An online payment calculator is available to evaluate different payment plans. Tuition cost for the MSN program for the 2025–26 academic year is $707 per semester credit hour. Audit is $354 per semester hour. There is a one-time program fee, according to track: AGACNP is $1,500; FNP is $1,500; NE is $250; NLHI is $250; and PNP is $1,500. The graduation fee for the MSN program for the 2025–26 academic year is $125. Course fees vary and are listed per course in this catalog under Graduate-Level Course Descriptions. Academic Advising Upon admission into the MSN program, each student is assigned a program advisor and a faculty advisor. The program advisor assists in helping the students with class scheduling and other graduate processes. The faculty advisor provides professional guidance and monitors progress throughout the length of study. Degree-seeking students may review their academic program progression by selecting the Progress tab option in Student Planning at cedarville.edu/studentplanning. Course Load Assuming that proficiency requirements have been satisfied, a minimum of 38–45 semester hours is required for graduation from the MSN program.
