Page 98 2025–26 Graduate Academic Catalog School of Nursing Graduate Certificate in Global Public Health Graduate Certificate in Global Public Health Purpose Statement The Graduate Certificate in Global Public Health (GPH) will enable graduate students to gain knowledge of the principles, theories, and strategies in the contemporary issues of global public health. Program Objectives Candidates who complete the Graduate Certificate in Global Public Health (GPH) are equipped to be leaders in contemporary nursing practice by: • Developing a multidisciplinary knowledge base using Biblical principles in examining global public health issues. • Developing frameworks for collaborative approaches and strategies for global public health issues. • Evaluating and analyzing contemporary issues in global public health. Program Delivery Cedarville University has designed the Graduate Certificate in Global Public Health (GPH) to be flexible and responsive to student needs. Three fully online, 14-week courses and one fully online, seven-week course are offered during the fall, spring, and summer terms.Graduate online course content will be available for student access the weekend prior to the start of the course. Course Requirements Course requirements include 12 semester hours as follows: *NSG-6220 Epidemiology..............................................................3 or NSG-8060 Population Health and Epidemiology..............3 NSG-6240 Foundation of Global Public Health..............................3 NSG-6250 Global Public Health Strategies....................................3 NSG-6260 Contemporary Issues in Global Public Health..............3 *Non-DNP students are required to complete NSG-6220 Epidemiology. DNP students are required to complete NSG-8060 Population Health and Epidemiology. Accreditation The Graduate Certificate in Global Public Health is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and authorized by the Ohio Department of Higher Education. Admission Standards Admission to the Graduate Certificate in Global Public Health (GPH) requires meeting the University's general admission criteria, application requirements, and the following: 1. Evidence of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. 2. Official transcripts of a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited or otherwise approved institution with a GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale. • Applicants in the final semester of their bachelor's degree are eligible to apply. • Applicants who are pursuing or have earned a graduate nursing degree from an accredited program may also apply, provided their undergraduate and/or graduate GPA is a 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale. • Applicants with a GPA of 2.5 to 2.9 may apply with a petition demonstrating academic potential, which will be reviewed only after the application is complete. Completion of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is optional; however, taking the GRE may strengthen a graduate application. 3. One professional or academic reference (faculty member or supervisor) and one Christian character reference (pastor or mentor). Family members and personal friends are not eligible to serve as references. Admission Process and Timeframe Applicants should follow specific admission criteria found in the Admissions section of the graduate catalog. After an admission application is completed, applications are reviewed on an ongoing basis by the MSN Admission, Progression, Retention Committee. Graduate Enrollment will notify applicants of the admission decision. Tuition and Fees Tuition cost for the Graduate Certificate in Global Public Health (GPH) courses for the 2025–26 academic year is $707 per semester credit. Audit is $354 per semester hour. Financial Aid Global Public Health courses completed for the graduate certificate, as a nondegree program, are not eligible for federal or state aid. However, students may qualify for personal loans to pay for this program. Global public health courses completed for the MSN degree program may be eligible for federal and state aid. Certificate Completion Requirements Students seeking the Graduate Certificate in Global Public Health must fulfill the following: • Complete all requirements for an undergraduate degree. • Complete all requirements for the Graduate Certificate in Global Public Health within seven years after matriculation in the program. • Maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0.
