Alumnotes, Fall 2013

Can we really be nearing the end of 2013 already? This entire year has been a whirlwind, but the last several months have passed by especially fast. We kicked off the school year with another fun Getting Started Weekend. What Dick Walker began so many years ago continues to be a great way to welcome students to our campus. Especially fun for me was hosting our Second Generation Banquet, where we welcomed more than 260 alumni and their new freshmen to Cedarville. President and Mrs. White joined us and met the record number of alumni who attended with their children this year. It was exciting to see the entire campus come together to celebrate this year’s Homecoming 2013: Together, as alumni, students, faculty, and staff were engaged in festivities all over campus. I trust that those of you who came enjoyed reconnecting and spending time together with friends, old and new. When talking to our students, I am always amazed to hear how many of them first heard about Cedarville from alumni. Thank you for sharing the Cedarville story! We really need you to continue working together with us to get the message out about Cedarville. This is a key time of year to encourage students to apply. Whether you know someone who belongs on campus as an undergraduate, someone who should come back to participate in one of our graduate programs (we now have five!), or someone who wants to enroll in one of our online programs, it is important that you send us their names. As always, if you send us three names, we will send you a Cedarville T-shirt! Go to cedarville.edu/names to get started. I have enjoyed getting to know Dr. White as our President, and I appreciate his zeal for getting the Word of God to the world. As I look to the future and what God has for Cedarville, the words of this new song from The Rend Collective Experiment often come to mind. Unleash Your kingdom’s power Reaching the near and far No force of hell can stop Your beauty changing hearts You made us for much more than this Awake the kingdom seed in us Fill us with the strength and love of Christ We are Your Church We are the hope On earth Build Your kingdom here Let the darkness fear Show Your mighty hand Heal our streets and land Set Your Church on fire Win this nation back Change the atmosphere Build Your kingdom here We pray Join us in praying that God will continue to build His kingdom here on our campus, our community, our nation, and our world, through the lives of students, faculty, staff, and alumni who are committed to the Word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ.
