alumnotes | News 1 Ron Baker ’69 , Dick Pettitt ’67 , Paul Entner ’67 , and Deane Allen ’68 — former Yellow Jacket Men’s Tennis teammates — caught up at the 2019 Western and Southern Tennis Tournament this summer. They were all on the first team that Murray Murdoch coached (1965–1966). 2 Nancy (Towle) Jones ’69 , a missionary to Spain for more than 40 years, and Caleb Hague ’03 , a missionary to Spain, were joined by Michael ’95 and Monica (Bolet) Pasquale ’91 , Meghan Kuhn ’14 , and Julia Bonifield ’19 to work at an English camp in Spain. All six Cedarville alumni helped with a fun and crazy week of ministry. 3 Eric Mounts ’81 , Drew Baker ’82 , and Mark Womack ’82 — former Yellow Jacket Men’s Basketball teammates — and Coach Donald Callan caught up at a Cincinnati Reds game this summer. 4 Steven Etner ’82 released his latest book, Overcoming Temptation: 4 Steps to Spiritual Victory in February 2019. In a very clear and practical way, Steve teaches how to live a life that is holy and pure, say no to sin, and live in full and complete surrender to God. All of Steven’s books are available on Amazon. Mark Mills ’82 graduated with his Doctor of Philosophy in New Testament at Baptist Bible Seminary in May 2019. Mark plans to teach Greek and New Testament exegesis. 5 Christine (Renberg) Sommers ’89 graduated with her Doctor of Philosophy in nursing from the University of Kansas in June 2019. She plans to continue to teach and serve as the Executive Dean in the Faculty of Nursing at Universitas Pelita Harapan in Jakarta, Indonesia. Ruth (Yuen) Kramer ’90 co-hosted the webcast for the International Day for the Unreached, hosted by Focus on the Family. She serves as a founding member on the Alliance for the Unreached and utilizes the platform of Mission Network News to bring the cause of the unreached to the ears of Christian radio listeners. In 2019, Ruth competed at the National Senior Games and the State Games of America as a master senior sprinter. In her recent USATF meet, she met All-American standards for Masters and ranks in the Top 25 in the U.S. in the 100 meter and 200 meter for women 50–54. Ruth ran for Cedarville College on both the Cross Country and Track & Field teams. 6 David Wyand ’91 , Jeff Nitengale ’91 , Kelly Fath ’91 , Randy Oswald ’91 , Jim Houser ’91 , Eric Johnson ’91 , and Matt Benefiel ’91 gathered for a reunion in Seed Lake, Georgia, in August, celebrating 32 years of friendship (and counting!). The group have stayed friends since graduation and converged from Europe, Georgia, Maryland, Michigan, Ohio, and Tennessee to stay in touch. 7 Allie (Heller) Slocum ’94 released her book Rachel Landon, Feeling Abandoned in August 2019. The third book in her Character Club fiction series engages children ages 8 and up to help teachers and parents inspire strong moral character. Cindy Hasselbring ’95 recently accepted a position to serve as Senior Policy Advisor, Assistant Director for STEM Education, U.S. Office of Science and Technology Policy, Executive Office of the President. In this role, she will work with all federal agencies as they implement the federal STEM education strategic plan. Todd Lane ’96 joined National Cooperative Bank (NCB) of Southern Ohio as Vice President, Commercial Cash Management Operations Manager. 8 Matt Rexford ’98 recently released a collection of worship songs through his home church, Fellowship Greenville, South Carolina. These songs were written to celebrate the Gospel truths of the book of Romans. The title of the album is Doxa Worship, I Am Not Ashamed and can be found on most music platforms. 9 Angela (Primo) Henderson ’00 published a children’s storybook, Isaac’s Ice Cream Tree , a magical exploration through the colors of the rainbow, the days of the week, and some of our favorite fruits. She stopped by Centennial Library this summer to donate a copy of her book to the Curriculum Materials Center. She shared her book during story time at the Cedarville public library, joined by her kids Christian (13), Victoria (11), and Andrew (7). James Adams ’03 joined Southern Illinois University Edwardsville athletics as the Cougars’ Assistant Athletic Director for Internal Operations. 10 Charity Spencer ’03 recently produced the faith-based, independent film Why We Breathe . Dave Emerson ’04 was named Admissions Officer of the Year at the annual American Coalition for Christian Admissions Professionals (NACCAP) conference. Ryan ’04 and Joelle (Marquardt) McCormick ’05 , Abigail (Winburn) Davis ’05 , and Sam Abels ’97 enjoyed a hiking trip in the Austrian Alps together. Ryan and Joelle are posted with the government in Vienna, Austria. 11 Jade Burley ’08 , Scott ’08 and Angela (Durr) Mitchener ’08 , Randy Burton ’93 , Jason Hilgeman ’00 , and Rachel Roberts ’13 are all full-time missionaries who have started a school for Haitian kids living in the sugarcane villages in the Dominican Republic. The school has grown from 390 to 1,800 students. Erica (Graham) Seabold ’15 has entered her first year of residency at the University of Kansas School of Medicine – Wichita Family Medicine Residency Program at Ascension Via Christi Hospitals.
