Erica (Johnson) Kurcsak ’04 and her husband, Nathan, announce the birth of Arabelle Patricia on June 4, 2012. Nathan is the pastor of young adults and missions at Maranatha Bible Church in Akron, Ohio, and Erica is a full-time mom and part-time piano teacher. Heather (Eger) Wolf ’05 and her husband, Joseph, announce the arrival of twins on July 6, 2012. The family resides in Grand Prairie, Texas, where Heather works as an ICU nurse, and Joe works as a corporate accountant. Caleb ’07 and Kathleen (Picard) Fletcher ’07 announce the birth of Haylee Denise on June 6, 2012. Caleb works as an insurance broker. Kathleen earned her master’s degree in counselor education in 2010 and worked for two years as a high school counselor. She is now enjoying being a stay-at-home mom. They live in Greenville, North Carolina. Phil ‘07 and Jessica (Gallas) Buben ‘08 announce the birth of their daughter, Lydia Jane, born on August 22, 2012. Phil teaches students with special needs in an elementary school in Marietta, Georgia, and Jessica is a stay-at-home mom. Michael ’07 and Lachelle (Richter) Hubenthal ’08 announce the birth of Elise Joy on March 2, 2012. She was welcomed home by big sister Abigail (2). Michael is an engineer at John Deere. Lachelle stays home with the girls and works part time as a nurse for a local crisis pregnancy center. They reside in Dubuque, Iowa. Andrew ’07 and Elizabeth (Reynolds) Brewer ’08 announce the birth of Emma Anne on August 14, 2012. She blesses the family after the loss of two children, Alex in October 2010 and Benjamin Lawrence in September 2011. Andrew is a full-time firefighter in Beavercreek, Ohio, and Liz is a stay-at-home mom. Brett ’08 and Melissa (Mathews) Smith ’08 announce the birth of Katharine Anita on April 12, 2012. Katie was welcomed home by her sister, Elisabeth Anne (3), and brother, William Lawrence (2). The family resides in Grove City, Ohio. Phil ’08 and Jazmine (Cook) McLeod ’10 announce the birth of Addison Mishelle on March 27, 2012. Phil is a lighting technician at Sight and Sound Theatres, and Jazmine enjoys being a stay-at-home mom. They currently reside in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania. Daniel ’10 and Rachel (York) Merkh ’10 announce the birth of Lindsey Claire, born October 4, 2012. Mary Laurine Gullette ’54 of Columbus, Ohio, April 6, 2012. Harry A. Hartzell ’64 of Springfield, Ohio, August 18, 2012. Robert Dennis “Bob” King ’69 , of Aiken, South Carolina, September 3, 2012. Floyd Fischer ’70 of Duncanville, Texas, September 7, 2012. Bernice (Wagoner) Bowersox ’70 of Dublin, Ohio, October 9, 2012. Anne (Gordon) Kane ’89 of Downington, Pennsylvania, October 20, 2012. Dr. Omer Bonenberger passed away on January 6, 2013. He retired from Cedarville in 2009 after 28 years of teaching in the Education department. He was a member of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society and listed in Who’s Who in American Religion. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca, children Joyce and Todd, and four grandchildren. Alumni and colleagues remember him fondly for his scholarship, kindness, and humor. Dr. James Grier passed away on January 9, 2013. He taught philosophy at Cedarville from 1969–1982 before joining the faculty at Grand Rapids Theological Seminary as Distinguished Professor of Philosophical Theology. He later served 16 years as Executive Vice President and Academic Dean at the seminary. He is survived by his wife, Shirley, and his son, Kevin. Alumni remember him as a mentor and friend.
