alumnotes | Births 16 Stephanie (Taylor) Monroe ’04 and her husband, Chad, announce the birth of son Jake in April 2016. He joined big sisters Addison, Mya, and Lucy at home in Fort Riley, Kansas. Chad returned last spring from his third combat deployment, and Stephanie homeschools the girls and is working on her first book. 17 Gillian (Mocas) Nance ’04 and her husband, Bill, welcomed their fifth child, Miranda, in September 2016. Miranda joined siblings Marissa, Isaiah, Isaac, and Ian. Gillian also completed her Master of Library and Information Science degree in May 2017 and works at the Southwest Public Libraries in Grove City, Ohio, as a librarian. It has been a busy, but blessed year! 18 Mark Orlowski ’04 and his wife, Jessica, welcomed Elijah Atreyu on October 24, 2017. He is their first, and they are thrilled to share his arrival with the Cedarville family! 19 Dan ’05 and Sarah (Thengvall) Roeber ’04 announce the birth of Hannah Joy on December 17, 2017. She joined Emily (4) and Ethan (2) in Tallahassee, Florida. 20 Bret ’05 and Emily (Thompson) Hurlbut ’05 welcomed Henry Bret on June 26, 2016. He joined siblings Arianna (6) and Elsa (4). The family resides in Madison, Wisconsin. Bret is employed by Epic in Verona, Wisconsin, as a software developer, and Emily stays busy homeschooling the children. 21 William Duncan ’06 and his wife, Kiera, celebrated the birth of son Tavin, born November 3, 2017. In July, the family moved from China to Pacifica, California, where William began teaching secondary social studies at Alma Heights Christian School. Daughter Kaeya began kindergarten there last fall. 22 Jason ’06 and Rachel (Solsky) Stephens ’06 welcomed Dominick Khun (4) into their family legally on September 15, 2017. Dominick came home with his forever family in September of 2016 from Thailand. They couldn’t be more grateful for God’s hand in each step of this adoption, and give Him all glory for this wonderful blessing. They live in Indianapolis, Indiana. 23 Michael ’06 and Bethany (McDaniel) Baker ’07 welcomed Elliott Michael on November 25, 2016. He joined siblings Danielle, Jackson, and Emily. They live in Charlotte, Michigan, where Mike is a high school math teacher and Bethany is a stay-at-home mom. 24 Heather (Kelton) Vernon ’07 and her husband, Hamilton, announce the birth of Ethan Michael on October 26, 2017. Lexi (Kingma) Alexander ’08 and her husband, Jake, are thrilled to announce the adoption of Josslyn Annaliese. Josslyn was born February 6, 2016, and placed with their family through the foster system on February 25, and her adoption was finalized on November 16. Josslyn is welcomed with so much love by her parents and her siblings, Sophia (8), Kai (6), and Emma (4). 25 Laura (Anfang) Geer ’10 and her husband, Joel, are overjoyed to announce the birth of their son, Josiah Daugherty, born August 21, 2017. He is an answer to their prayers and a true gift from the Lord! 26 Drew Long ’10 and his wife, Stacy, adopted Savannah Faith on December 20, 2017. Savannah had been a foster child in their care since her birth on July 24, 2015, and they are thrilled that she is now officially part of the Long family. 27 Becca (Belote) Emas ’11 and her husband, Jonathan, welcomed Alaina Grace into the world June 19, 2017. Jonathan is an active duty Army pilot, and Becca is now staying at home after teaching science for six years. 28 Josiah ’12 and Julianne (Heady) Heskett ’11 praise God for their three daughters, Katie (3), Abby (2), and Sophia, born November 2017. 29 Lauren (Stapleton) Krabill ’13 and her husband, John, welcomed their first child, Jude Ryal, on April 11, 2017.
