alumnotes | News 1 Donna (Payne) VanLiere ’89 released her latest book, The Time of Jacob’s Trouble , a moving, fast-paced account of the end times. Rev. Brian Behl ’92 was installed as Pastor at Providence Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Rockford, Illinois, on September 27, 2017. He and his wife, Kirsten, also teach English to Chinese students with VIPKid, an online educational company. They have four children. 2 Michael Pasquale ’95 was honored by the Christian English Language Educators Association with the 2019 Earl W. Stevick Award, which honors an English language professional who excels in teaching, mentoring of teachers, scholarship, and living out the life of Christ in the profession. Michael is Professor of Linguistics and Chair of Humanities at Cornerstone University, Grand Rapids, Michigan. 3 Rutledge “Rut” Etheridge ’99 released his latest book, God Breathed: Connecting Through Scripture to God, Others, the Natural World and Yourself through Crown and Covenant Publications on August 30, 2019. Rut is married to Evelyn (Brown) ’98, and they have five children. They live in Western Pennsylvania, where Rut is Assistant Professor of Biblical Studies at Geneva College. (Photo credit: Geneva College) Vincent Chiu ’01 was recently appointed to a seat on the Ninth Judicial Circuit Court in Florida. 4 Bethany Sibbitt ’07, Pharm.D. ’16 was honored by Cedarville University’s School of Pharmacy for her excellence in education. Bethany is an Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice at Cedarville University. Hayden Browning ’12 was featured on The Worship Initiative Vol. 18 by Shane and Shane. Zac James ’12 released nine worship training courses in 2019 and won a 2019 Choice Resource Award from Dwayne Moore / Next Level Worship. He taught at the Worship 4:24 conference at Cedarville in January. 5 Jordan Nicholls ’12, Pharm.D. ’16 was honored by Cedarville University’s School of Pharmacy for his excellence in missions and ministry with a 2019 Pharmacy Alumni Award. Jordan is currently an outpatient pharmacist at Marshall University Medical Center in Huntington, West Virginia. 6 Kasandra Chambers ’13, Pharm.D. ’16 was honored by Cedarville University’s School of Pharmacy for her excellence in the profession with a 2019 Pharmacy Alumni Award. Kasandra is the pharmacy manager at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan. 7 Anna Rosati ’13 , Katie Cole ’06 , Becky Baumgartner ’01 , Christine Hayden ’93 , Scott Hayden ’95 , George Weber ’97 , and Mike Holden ’01 spent time together while at the International Community School Bangkok, Thailand. Joe Niemiec ‘14 and Katie (Lanphier) Ruhlman ‘12 qualified for the U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials with their respective performances at the Chevron Houston Marathon. 8 Myriam Shaw Ojeda ’16, Pharm.D. ’19 has been named the first fellow in the Ohio Pharmacists Association Center for Entrepreneurship Fellowship. She also works at Conway’s Pharmacy in Knox County, Ohio, where she serves the rural communities. Caleb Peterson ‘16 joined the Jazz Ensemble with a rendition of Go Tell It On the Mountain for the Community Christmas Celebration on December 8. A recording of the concert is available in the chapel archive. David Grandouiller ’17 has been named the Ohioana Walter Rumsey Marvin Grant winner for 2019. The $1,000 grant is awarded by the Ohioana Library Association every year to an Ohio prose writer under the age of 30 who has not published a book. Grandouiller is currently working toward a Master of Fine Arts degree in creative writing at Ohio State University. Reyna Osorio ’17 is in her third year of medical school at Campbell University and was named the Christian Medical and Dental Association (CMDA) student representative for North Carolina in October. She will be traveling to Liberia for her international rotation in February. She would like to give a shoutout to Cedarville’s Global Outreach for equipping students for missions! 9 Phil McDonald ’74 released his book Unreal: Adventures of a Family’s Global Life in June 2019. Lions, rhinos, and pirates are a few of the 90 experiences in this memoir of raising a family in the developing world. McDonald shares 60 life lessons from working in 38 countries. 10 Scott Moyer ’86 and Jesse Mangum ’19 visited and encouraged Spanish high school students who are enrolled in Betsy Stoltzfus’ ’88 English Connect, an English Academy ministry in Caceres, Spain. Scott and Jesse met the students when they were in the U.S. in July 2018. The students invited them to come visit in Spain. NEWS Cedarville University | Spring 2020
