alumnotes | News Donald Brake ’66 recently published a book titled Jesus, A Visual History . It offers a unique vantage point into Jesus’ story, fleshing out the historical context of the Gospel accounts. Its easy-reading style, thorough research, and visual presentation will leave you with a greater and lasting appreciation for Jesus the Messiah. The book features sidebars, callouts, illustrations, charts, and color and historic black-and- white photos. Mendy (Jackson) Norman ’84 released a children’s book, The Great Rescue , in December 2014. The book is an allegory of how Christ pursues, rescues, heals, and makes us whole. It contains questions and answers, activities, a pullout seek-and-find page, and the plan of salvation and can be used by families, homeschoolers, counselors, and Sunday school teachers. Cynthia (Lawry) Denio ‘99 , husband Peter, and their family spent six weeks in summer 2014 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Peter taught at Evangelical Theological College and Cynthia worked with the children’s ministries at the International Evangelical Church. The Denios had a chance encounter in Addis with another Cedaville family, Eric ’02 and Erin (Vallowe) Mitchell ’01, who are medical missionaries in Kenya. Kevin Kuczynski ’96 released his first book, Behind the Counselor’s Door , with HCI Publishing in March. His book draws on his many years of experience as a high school counselor helping students deal with issues including schoolwork, sex, drug and alcohol use, and suicide as well as the joys of college and career planning. Teenagers will empa- thize with the trials and tribulations in the students’ stories, but behind those doors are also ingredients for making life a success, including perseverance, achievement, resiliency, affirmation, self-confidence, and more. Kevin and his wife, Jennifer (Kamauf) ’96 live in Macomb Township, Michigan, with their children, Hannah and Ty.
