Cedarville University | Summer 2014 Sherry (Chamblin) Pearson ’77 has had her book A New Life published. A work of Christian fiction, this book is especially meaningful as it chronicles the growth and development of the preborn. The book is available online through the America Star Books Bookstore. Sherry and her husband, Steve, live in Maine and keep busy working on projects around their home and in their local church. Deborah (Howard) Knisley ’89 earned a master’s degree in education from Wilkes University. As a Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy (CIDP) survivor, she attended graduate school online and is excited about new technology in education and opportunities to teach remotely. Deborah and her husband, Sid, live in Westerville, Ohio. Lauralyn (Hackney) Davis ’92 has written a book titled In Pursuit of Happiness — Stewarding Freedom as a Modern Christian Woman . The dedication of the book reads: “To my Printy Sisters from Cedarville University. Life is harder and more wondrous than we thought it would be.” The book is a 10-week Bible study that challenges Christian women to evaluate their pursuits in light of God’s purposes. Laury and her husband, Chad ’92, reside in Memphis, Tennessee, and are the parents of three teenagers. Laury is involved in her church and has also been published in various magazines and publications for Standard Publishing and Focus on the Family, among others. Loretta (Stephen) Dickson ’95 has written an original play, Tug of War , featuring music by Chris Tomlin. This play will be performed at Bayside Baptist Church in Harrison, Tennessee, where Loretta has served as a theatrical director in the worship ministry for 14 years. This is her second original play to be produced there. Alexander Beaujean ’99 has had a book, Latent Variable Modeling Using R: A Step-by- Step Guide , published by Routledge/Taylor & Francis in May 2014. His textbook combines advanced statistical techniques and statistical programming. Alexander is currently an Associate Professor of Educational Psychology at Baylor University in Waco, Texas. Celia Short ‘03 was recently recognized by the Georgia Press Association for her education coverage for The Newnan Times-Herald . She received third place in her division in the Association’s 2014 Better Newspaper Contest. Celia joined the paper in June 2013 and covers education and the city of Newnan. Brock Bahler ’04 successfully defended his dissertation in philosophy at Duquesne University on May 21, 2014. He now works as a Visiting Assistant Professor in Religious Studies at the University of Pittsburgh. Libby Shortt ’05 was featured in a newsleader.com story for her work as the archivist at the Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library. After graduating from Cedarville with a degree in English, she went on to earn her master’s degree in library science from the University of Kentucky. Nora Chasnov ’10 has written a book titled Outstanding Debt – Living Indebted to Infinite Love , which was published in April by Tate Publishing. The book calls God’s children to love Him by loving others, living mindfully that they are indebted to God’s love. Nora currently lives in Clifton, Ohio. Katie Entner ’13 began serving in January 2014 with Operation Mobilization, a ministry that sends missionaries by ship to fulfill needs and bring the Gospel to ports around the world. Katie will travel aboard the Logos Hope until February 2016.
