Alumnotes, Summer 2017

A L UMNOT E S Summer 2017 was a significant event during your time — like carrying hymnals to the new chapel or library books to the new library — or an influential faculty member from your era, every alumni story I hear resonates with three key themes: the transformational experience of daily chapel, the biblical foundation of the Bible minor, and significant relationships with faculty, staff, and students who made a huge impact on your life that created a lifelong connection and bond to your Cedarville experience. And of course, songs like Christ Is All I Need! I have been blessed this year, and I look forward to meeting many more of you and getting to know you as I travel around the country and as you make your way back to campus. When you are on campus, please take a moment to stop by the alumni office and say hello. It will be a joy to welcome you back home. Until then, Office of Philanthropic Partnerships Director of Alumni and Parent Engagement Jeff Beste ‘87 Alumni Relations and Annual Giving Director of Alumni Relations and Annual Giving Stephanie (Cleek) Carroll ‘10 Homecoming and Alumni Programming Coordinator Dan Case ‘16 Assistant Director of Student Philanthropy and Young Alumni Rahul Jacob ‘17 Advancement Assistant Alathea Young ‘07 We are excited to introduce Rick Melson, Cedarville’s new Vice President for Advancement, to Alumnotes. Rick came to Cedarville in July 2016, bringing more than 20 years of leadership experience in higher education. In his new “Vantage Point” feature, Rick will share his heart for Cedarville and passion to continue its legacy of truly Christian education that transforms lives and equips our students to impact the world for Jesus Christ. Greetings from Cedarville! Over the past year, I have had the privilege of meeting so many of you who are Cedarville alumni as I have traveled throughout the country. From big city, to small town, to everywhere in between, I have met alumni who graduated from every decade over the past 60 years, from the time when we were Cedarville College with several hundred students to becoming Cedarville University with more than 3,700 students and 30,000 alumni who are making an impact for Christ around the world. What a legacy! We have alumni connected to almost every industry you can imagine, and I have been delighted to hear your stories and unique experiences that unite the Cedarville alumni community together.
