Alumnotes, Summer 2018
A L UMNOT E S Summer 2018 Office of Alumni and Parent Relations Executive Director Jeff Beste ’87 Assistant Director of Homecoming and Alumni Programming Dan Case ’16 Assistant Director of Student Philanthropy and Young Alumni Rahul Jacob ’17 Advancement Relations and Events Coordinator Julie Sheridan As a graduate of Cedarville University (or perhaps it was Cedarville College at the time), would you be interested in helping raise the national awareness of your alma mater? Each year U.S. News & World Report publishes rankings for all colleges and universities in the United States. According to its website, “Choosing a college or university to attend is a major life decision, but it’s not one that you have to make alone. U.S. News & World Report’s Best Colleges rankings can take some of the stress out of the school research and selection process and help students find a college that’s a good fit.” The U.S. News & World Report’s rankings are based on several criteria, including graduation and retention rates (22.5%), undergraduate academic reputation (22.5%), faculty resources (20%), student selectivity (12.5%), financial resources (10%), graduation rate performance (7.5%), and alumni giving rate (5%). That’s correct, 5 percent of the ranking criteria is based on the percentage of alumni who give back to the university. This is where you come in. Your annual gift as a Cedarville alumnus, regardless of the size of the gift, is an indirect measure of student satisfaction and can increase Cedarville University’s ranking and reputation. But rankings are only one reason to give. The main reason we give is because we are called to be a generous people, and your gift will make a huge impact in the life of a Cedarville University student. Today, 100 percent of the undergraduate students at Cedarville University receive some kind of financial aid, and without your gifts it would not be possible for many of our students to receive a transformational Cedarville University education. Will you join me in giving back and paying it forward? You can send a check to Cedarville University Advancement or simply go online to cedarville.edu/makeagift .
