1977 Cedarville College Annual Report

Present Faculty FUNDAMENTAL HERITAGE Cedarville College was chartered in 1887 by godly men within the Reformed Presbyterian Church . The college was founded on the belief that "culture of the mind without the nurture and growth of spiritual life is a mistake. Education without morality is a menace to the state .. . accordingly the Bible is a textbook of the college." In 1928 the trustees of the college asked to be released from the Reformed Presbyterian Church . The granting of this re– quest caused Cedarville to become a school without a sup– porting denomination, creating a financial burden that led to the decline of the original Cedarville College. 4 In 1953 trustee control of Cedarville College was trans– ferred to the Baptist Bible Institute of Cleveland. For the past twenty years God has been performing a miracle at Cedarville College. Enrollment has increased from 100 to 1200 students. The faculty, once numbering only 10, has expanded to almost 75 professors. The 15 acre campus with 9 buildings has grown to 100 acres and 27 buildings. All this has been accomplished by God through men who have depended upon Him to supply the needs of this miracle college. His grace has been sufficient and His provision has been abundant. For Cedarville College now stands as a major testimony for Christ in the world of higher education .
