1992-1993 Cedarville College Annual Report

INTEQCOLLEGIATE J\TliLETIC PQOGQJ\M0 at Cedarville promote spiritual and leadership development of participants. Cedarville College teams have a good following and have brought home 10 national championships, 75 conference and district championships, and 175 All-Americans during Dr. Dixon's administration. At home, the men's varsity basketball team plays before a standing– room-only crowd, and an integral part of home games is the 100-member Pep Band. In the past three years, three head coaches have been inducted into the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Hall of Fame- athletic director and basketball coach Dr. Don Callan, tennis coach Dr. Murray Murdoch, and soccer coach John McGillivray. 1986 graduate Jane Romig Brooker, a track standout and Olympic hopeful, is scheduled for induction into NAIA's Hall of Fame in May 1994. Dr. Callan and track coach Elvin King are members of the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Hall of Fame. CEDJ\QVILLE'0 COMMITMENT TO IiELPING students extends beyond their college career. The Career Services Office offers assistance to students from their first year in preparation for the job search. Students take advantage of interest tests, workshops, on-campus interviewing, job fairs, database services, computerized job tracking, and networking with alumni. The Alumni Relations staff coordinates communications and events to keep alumni involved. From Homecoming to basketball games to concerts, alumni have many opportunities to visit campus. Their appreciation for Cedarville is also shown in the number of their children who enroll as students. ' ' Athletics is a trainin8 8round that helps students develop skills they will need in work and ministry. The concept of teamwork, workin8 to8ether for a common cause, is not only popular in business today, but is also biblical.
