minister. I go to Cincinnati each Fridaynight with about 150 other students. We leave campus at 5:30 and when we get there we break up into groups. There has to be a guy in each group, usually a guy with two girls. We walk around and witness to people. Sometimes it seems like nobody wants to talk to us, but most of the time it works out. The other day I went up to this lady sitting in a mall. I said something like, "How are you?" and she started telling me her whole life story and showing me all these letters. She's from the projects- probably 70 years old and really lonely. I like having opportunities to feel useful to God and grow closer to Him. I also go to the Dayton Detention Home every other Sunday to be a friend to the girls there. The whole Bible is basically a call to bring other people to Hirn. When you're out in the city, you see people you might normally shy away from. But when you get past the barriers- how they act and how they dress and where they live- they're just like you and me. These ministries are friendship evangelism. We try to be friendlyand share the gospel. Before starting Open Heirs, I was never really into devotions. Praying was kind of a chore. I'd pray for something I wanted, and afterwards I'd feel bad because I felt I shouldn't want things. Now I go to the Chapel just to spend time praying. I guess the difference is seeing other people's needs. Melissa Hewitt Freshman Psychology Major Elkhart, Indiana
