1992-1993 Cedarville College Annual Report

and facilities, while generous giving and sound financial management have helped to keep Cedarville one of the best educational values around. Increasing academic excellence of incoming students is matched by a campuswide fervor for ministry and evangelism. The only explanation I can offer for these tremendous blessings is God and the people He has brought to Cedarville. When I became president 15 years ago, I understood the heritage of godly leadership at Cedarville. This college has had many Christian leaders who were dedicated to the mission of providing an education consistent with biblical truth. Foremost in my mind when I accepted this charge and prominent in my thoughts today is the man God used to lead Cedarville for 25 years-James T. Jeremiah. At Homecoming 1993, we honored Dr. Jeremiah for 40 years of service to Cedarville College. In that time, he helped Cedarville grow from the union of a small liberal arts college and a Bible institute to an accredited college of arts, sciences, and professional programs. I can never say enough about the help he has been to me personally and how much he still cares for the college family. God has brought other key people to be part of this family. Trustees and vice presidents, faculty and staff, students and friends- everyone contributes to Cedarville's success. I am especially grateful for the administrative team that directs the College. These men are dedicated wholeheartedly to the Lord and to the college mission. They are remarkably gifted to lead in each of their areas. Today, their skills are needed more than ever. Cedarville is basically twice the size it was 15 years ago. Our faculty and staff has more than doubled, and the latest record enrollment of 2,278 marks an increase of 92% in that time span. This expansion has brought pressures and changes, but our driving purpose has remained constant. Now, people across the country and even around the world are looking to Cedarville for Christian leadership in higher education. They see us adding needed programs such as engineering, developing one of the largest and most comprehensive computer networks on any small college campus, sending over 100 students a year on missions trips, offering a quality education for 30% less than the average cost of a private college education, and building state-of-the– art facilities , and then they ask, "How do you do it?" The answer is God and the people He uses to bless Cedarville College. This annual report summarizes for you the crucial components of Cedarville College. We want you to know what this place is all about. Along the way, you will meet several people. Their stories represent the daily blessings we see at Cedarville. I feel privileged to be in a position in which I can see God's hand working so clearly. And I hope you will join with me as we look to the future and the challenges that our Lord has for us as leaders in higher education. ~~~ Paul Dixon President January 1994 40 Year 19531993 Dr. James T.
