1992-1993 Cedarville College Annual Report
The College family is stretched by hearing notable speakers. 1993 brought David Dolan, CBS correspondent in Israel, artist Jon Mourglia, musician Robert Rucker, and Russian biochemist Dmitri Kouznetsov to campus. Beyond the "family time" in chapel, special presentations like "Thursdays Live," organized by the Student Services staff, discuss important concerns in innovative ways. Discipleship opportunities, both one-on– one and in groups, encourage personal and spiritual growth. 1\vice during the school year, the College cancels morning classes for the college family to take part in a Day of Prayer. And a strong Christian ministries program stretches the vision of the students for service. Cedarville students come from 48 states and several foreign countries. They have received public, Christian, and home education. Yet they have at least one thing in common- all profess to know Jesus Christ as their Savior. Their common faith establishes the foundation for character building. TiiE CiiAQACTEQ Of TiiE &TUDENT& is reflected in part by the activities in which they participate. Some are student-initiated, and many are for the purpose of serving others. During fall quarter 1993, a group of students spent a long weekend in flood-ravaged Iowa. They reconstructed damaged homes and gave clothing purchased by the student body to flood victims. They also presented a gift of over $1,000 from the Cedarville student body to a Bible college which suffered flood damage. Such one-time efforts reveal the compassion that students have developed through weekly outreach in local communities. Students volunteer over 70,000 hours each year in ministries from open air evangelism to literacy programs. Cedarville provides an atmosphere in which these Christian young people can mature into people of godly character. ' ' The education department is like one big family. Everyone knows everyone else. Coming from a public hi8h school, I was impressed when I found out that professors begin every class with prayer and even ask if we have prayer requests. What's really special in the education program is hands-on experience in the schools during the first and second year-to help us find out if teachin8 is what we are really called to do.
