1994-1995 Cedarville College Annual Report
' ~,, BuildiQ . Value .-.~~:· , . C onservative and sound. These are words that embody the Cedarville College philosophy of financial management, a philosophy resulting from our biblical view of stewardship and commitment to free enterprise. Sound financial management has resulted in 16 years of balanced budgets and allows the College to invest in its long-term growth, building additional value for our students. It also results in student costs that are typically 30 percent less than the national average for independent colleges. Cedarville's tuition, room, board, and fees for the 1995-96 school year total $12,576. High quality and competitive pricing-a formula for value. That is the kind of value measured in a 1995 U.S. News & World Report study that ranked Cedarville College as a "Best Buy" among liberal arts colleges in the Midwest. While most colleges and universities create affordability through government funding and redistributing student tuition in the form of scholarships, Cedarville has pursued an unconventional course. Through the generosity of donors and sound management of finances, Cedarville keeps costs low for all students, minimizes tuition redistribution, and accepts no federal, state, or local government funds for either operating or capital purposes. Cedarville College is regularly recognized by the Funding Our Distinctives John Templeton Foundation in its Honor Roll of Free Enterprise Teaching Colleges. Fund-raising for construction of The Ministry Center began in 1995 . This $15 million project is the largest in the 108-year history of Cedarville College. While off to a great start, the successful completion of this campaign will require the continued generous support of our friends. • 1995-96 budget: $30,453, 195 General Fund Expenditures 1994-95 Instructional and Academic Support Institutional Support $9,858,712 5,919,917 3,909,248 2,607,079 1,780,004 1,708,526 Auxiliary Support Debt Services Physical Plant Student Services Student Aid Non-mandatory Transfers Total Gift Income 1994-95 Alumni Parents Friends Foundations Corporations Churches Others Total $466,576 947,376 1,565,606 953,011 411,840 353,370 169,208 $4,866,987 894,907 1,812,778 $28,491,171 9.6% 19.5% 32.1 % 19.6% 8.5% 7.3% 3.4% 100%
