#1 in Campus Networking CAUSE has once again recognized Cedarville College for excellence in campus networking. CedarNet was ranked the top campus network in the nation among institutions with annual operating budgets of less than $100 million. In 1993, CedarNet was one of seven honorable mention recipients of the CAUSE award. CAUSE is the association for managing and using information technology in higher education. tudents in every area of study benefit from application of career-related technology in classrooms and laboratories as well as experience with computer technology through CedarNet, the College's award-winning computer network. CedarNet provides access to learning and research materials 24 hours a day from the convenience of residence hall rooms or offices. Cedarville's pervasive technology prepares graduates to be competitive in today's highly technical information– driven society. D r. J. Wesley Baker, professor of communication arts CedarNet Highlights 15,000 e-mails per day. 1,000 computer workstations in residence halls; 1,600 on campus. 2,500 information requests per week concerning such items as transcripts, chapel attendance records, business office accounts, and dormitory sign-outs. 1,200 logons on a typical weekday afternoon. 20 technical carts available for classroom teaching aids equipped with computer with projection capability, audio and video players, and obj ect projectors. OhioLINK, a statewide library resource sharing network, available for students to access 24.8 million volumes and acquire materials electronically. "CedarNet has changed the way we learn. Dr. Baker delivers our lecture notes and links to related web sites over the network so we can access them 24 hours a day. Then he can use class time to answer our questions and help us apply the principles we learn. The class really doesn't end when the bell rings.
