1996-1997 Cedarville College Annual Report

"CedarNet is a key part of a Cedarville education. It is the normal method of communication between faculty, staff, and students, and there is the same level of access anyplace on campus. We're able to make software packages available to students without their having to buy them. About 100 schools, including at least 30 private Ohio colleges, have visited Cedarville to learn about CedarNet." Dr. David Rotman, director ofcomputer services "The CIS professors have done a really good job of informing us about the CIS industry and preparing us for the kind of jobs that are out there. Some of the new programming languages they have taught us enabled me to have an internship the past two summers at a Microsoft solution provider. I programmed right alongside people who had five or more years of programming experience in the industry. They offered me a job after Igraduate." trin Johns, senior computer information systems/ accounting double major from Phillipsburg, New Jersey E rin Johns has been involved for four years in Open Heirs, a weekly street evangelism ministry in three major cities. She currently co-leads the Cincinnati team. D r. Chris Miller, associate professor of Bible, uses technology to communicate the unchanging truth of Scripture in a fresh way. With CedarNet, students can interact with multimedia tutorials he creates for them and can produce their own presentations. Dr. Miller developed a CD to supplement a textbook for Baker Books. The CD reinforces the text, visualizes and audibilizes concepts, provides maps, photos, videos of Israel, and quizzes for interaction by the students. The text, Encountering the New Testament by Walter Elwell and Robert Yarbrough, and CD will be available in June 1998.
