2004-2005 Annual Report
Leaders have real-life experience. With small businesses and new business ventures driving economic growth and job creation around the world, Cedarville has made entrepreneurship more than a concept in a business course. In 2005, the department of business administration launched the Center for Business Innovation . Faculty and regional entrepreneurs work closely with students to launch new businesses — like Kindred Partners, LLC (www.ikindred.com ) — right on campus in classroom space designated as a business incubator. Leaders have global influence. While we watch the economic unfolding of China on the evening news, Cedarville students are experiencing it firsthand. Accompanied by their professor, Dr. Franco Gandolfi, a group of students spent three weeks last spring in China seeing global economic principles in action. They had the unique opportunity to meet with high- profile speakers like Reginald Chua, editor of The Wall Street Journal Asia ; Randy Wilcox ’81, president of Otis Elevator Company (South Asia Pacific Area); and Jaime FlorCruz, the Beijing bureau chief for Cable News Network (CNN). Students were immersed in the culture and were exposed to corporate, political, and social leaders during one of China’s most crucial moments in history — now. Also last spring, Cedarville entered into a partnership agreement with Handong global University (HGU) of Pohang, South Korea. The agreement creates an academic and mission-oriented exchange between Cedarville and HGU, a Christian university equipping godly leaders in Southeast Asia for global service and ministry. The global benefits for Cedarville students include field studies, summer programs, and joint research and publishing activities.
