2004-2005 Annual Report
11 Cedarville offers significant opportunities for students to work with a faculty mentor in joint research, including publishing in leading academic journals and presenting papers at major national conferences. Amanda Berger and faculty mentor Dr. Michael Firmin presented a paper at the Association for the Advancement of Educational Research (AAER), a national conference for scholars presenting research papers. The advantages to joint research are significant: excellent preparation for post-graduate work, resume-building experiences, networking opportunities, and the satisfaction of being stretched to think, learn, and explore at a completely new level. Amanda is now a Ph.D. student at Wayne State University. Her success is just one of many examples of joint faculty/student research at Cedarville. Academic excellence requires the continuous pursuit of professional accreditation . This year three departments completed their accreditation process: • Business Administration , accredited by the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) — June 2005 • Athletic Training , accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) — April 2005 • Music and Art , accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM) — December 2004 The University was once again recognized in “U.S.News & World Report” and included in “Peterson’s Competitive Colleges” and “The Princeton Review.”
