As an assistant to the director of constituent services, I helped constituents with their visa and immigration issues by corresponding with the Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Embassies worldwide and asking them to expedite pending cases. By representing the senator at events within Philadelphia’s Asian community, I was able to learn firsthand the needs of this growing population. Thanks to the grace of God, the helpful folks at career services, and those who wrote my recommendation letters, my recent internship turned out to be one of the most satisfying and memorable experiences of my life!” Matt Shiraki ’06, an integrated social studies education major from Cheltenham, Pennsylvania, was elected by his peers to serve as the 2005-2006 student government association president.
