2004-2005 Annual Report

21 Greetings from Crossville, Tennessee; Naples, Florida; and on rare occasion from Cedarville, Ohio. Pat and I are thoroughly enjoying these opportunity years. Ken Dychtwald and Daniel J. Kadlec in their new book on retirement call these years “The Power Years.” I prefer “opportunity years.” This new phase in our lives has presented the opportunity to spend more time together than any time in our 45 years of marriage. It has been a wonderfully enriching time for each of us. Dr. Brown and the trustees asked me to represent Cedarville University to our numerous constituencies within the GARBC, the Southern Baptist Convention, and the broader evangelical community. This has taken us to conventions, conferences, churches, colleges, universities, and seminaries. The opportunities to preach, promote, and make friends for Cedarville have kept me exceedingly busy. My favorite preaching opportunity continues to be the Cedarville University chapels. Christ is certainly all we need. I continue to attract resources to Cedarville and support President Brown and Vice President for Advancement David Ormsbee. I stay busy maintaining contacts with our donors and endeavoring to find new ones who share the University’s vision. Chancellor’s Report One of my most rewarding opportunities is leading men’s Bible studies in Naples and in Crossville. We invite men from various country clubs to meet for one hour each week to consider what the Bible has to say to us about issues we face at this juncture of our lives: our real net worth, our purpose in life, and our relationships with spouse, adult children, grandchildren, and aging parents. These times of study and discussion have been such a blessing for me. Last season, January through March, more than 75 people attended weekly in Florida, and we averaged 15 weekly in Tennessee over the summer and into the fall. Pat and I are most grateful to all in our Cedarville family who think of us, pray for us, and encourage us in these opportunity years. Paul Dixon Chancellor
