2006-2007 Annual Report
Timeless. Some things never change. Some things never should. Cedarville University embraces these essential commitments as central to our heritage and the foundation for our future: Spiritual Vibrancy — A focus on educating Christian students in an environment that intentionally promotes spiritual formation: Profession of faith by all students, faculty, • staff, administrators, and trustees Biblical approach to standards of conduct • Daily chapel • Bible minor as part of every • undergraduate program Strong support for Christian ministries, • missions, evangelism, and discipleship Doctrinal Clarity — A conservative evangelical doctrinal statement that is consistent with our Baptist heritage and affirmed annually by all faculty, staff, and administrators as a basis for employment. Academic Excellence — Pervasive commitment to academic quality as demonstrated by the caliber of faculty, facilities, and program resources and affirmed through regular assessment, student and graduate outcomes, and independent accreditation whenever possible. Biblical Worldview Integration — Educational focus that promotes growth in the fundamentals of the Christian faith, equips students to evaluate knowledge in the light of biblical truth, and encourages a passion for holiness, obedience, and ministry. Truth. Cedarville University views Scripture as the ultimate guide in the pursuit of truth. In stark contrast, our culture has become increasingly skeptical of the ability to know anything about the world or the Bible. Taking an almost unprecedented step within Christian higher education, Cedarville University produced a statement this year articulating our position on truth and to what degree it may be known. We affirm: Objective truth exists whether • or not humans recognize it. The Bible, God’s Word, is truth — • inspired, infallible, and inerrant. Believers can know the meaning • of the Bible with sufficient understanding to: be assured of their salvation −− live by faith in obedience to God −− affirm the conclusions essential to −− the Christian faith, which we hold as non-negotiable and upon which we unswervingly base our hope Learn more: www.cedarville.edu/truth Among the approximately 100 Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU) schools, Cedarville University is one of only seven schools with daily chapels and has the highest expectations for student attendance. Encouraging the family atmosphere for which Cedarville is known, required chapels feature incredible worship and challenging messages from some of the world’s most compelling Christian speakers. Students overwhelmingly affirm that chapel is a vital part of their spiritual growth and development. Only.
