2011-2012 Annual Report

Even among Christian colleges, it’s rare for an entire student body to gather each day for worship and prayer and to be equipped to live a Christ-centered life. Daily chapel continues to be the heartbeat of students’ spiritual formation. Chapel is complemented by Cedarville’s unique Bible minor and vibrant Christian ministries program, allowing students to grow their faith in a variety of discipleship and ministry experiences. ƒ ƒ More than 100 ministry teams serve local churches, schools, social agencies, inner-city outreaches, and area programs. ƒ ƒ More than 1,000 of our students are involved in discipleship ministries. ƒ ƒ More than 2,000 of our students voluntarily participate in missions or ministry at Cedarville. ƒ ƒ All students graduate with a Bible minor in addition to their bachelor’s degree. After reading Palmer Chinchen’s book True Religion last fall, the class of 2015 organized a campus-wide “Barefoot Thursday” in which students donated nearly 3,300 pairs of shoes to bless people living in poverty in Liberia. In May, several students joined Chinchen to distribute the shoes. See photos from this event and listen to Chinchen’s September 8, 2011, chapel message online at cedarville.edu/barefoot . TRANSFORMING LIVES Loving People Jon Purple, Dean for Student Life Programs, accompanied four Cedarville students to distribute the donated shoes and provide other ministries in Liberia with True Religion author Palmer Chinchen. 6
