2012-2013 Annual Report

During the past six months, I have grown to appreciate Cedarville University more than I could have imagined. My family and I have received a warm welcome from faculty, staff, students, and alumni. About 10 years ago, I described the ideal Christian university only to be told that it would never happen. This year, I discovered a real place that matched my idealistic description. Cedarville does Christian education right. My family and I feel like we’re home. As I have met students and alumni, I have heard over and over what not to change: ƒ ƒ The Bible minor for undergraduates ƒ ƒ Chapel every weekday ƒ ƒ A doctrinal statement affirmed by every faculty and staff member ƒ ƒ A biblical worldview woven into every class ƒ ƒ Mission Involvement Services (MIS) coordinating missions trips for students ƒ ƒ Discipleship Ministries with more than a third of our students participating These distinctives create an intentional Gospel purpose and impact our students throughout the remainder of their lives. In addition to Cedarville’s Gospel purpose, our academic standard remains incredibly high. Last year, 78 percent of our accounting graduates passed the CPA exam on the first try — that’s the highest in the state of Ohio. In every discipline, we train students to think well, write well, and perform well so that they can articulately confront culture with a bold Gospel proclamation. I do need your prayers and support in one area. Even though almost 98 percent of freshmen received financial aid last year, I am concerned about the increasing cost of higher education. I want Cedarville to be accessible and affordable and for us to graduate students without substantial debt. Your prayers and support for the University help make this happen. What happens here affects the world as our graduates impact lives for eternity. Please remember us in prayer every Monday and ask for God’s blessing upon Cedarville. Finally, thank you for your support of Cedarville University. Your support today helps create a godly heritage for tomorrow and all eternity. Until He Comes, Thomas White, Ph.D., President 1
