Campus Recreation Even if you’re not competing on one of the Yellow Jacket athletic teams, there are many opportunities for you to stay active. Our Campus Recreation department coordinates intramural sports, informal sports, outdoor pursuits, special events, fitness programming, fitness and recreation facilities, and other services. cedarville.edu/recreation Music Opportunities Whether you want to be involved in a choral or instrumental ensemble, participate in chapel music, or play around campus, here are some opportunities for you to pursue. Department of Music and Worship Ensembles See page 2 for details and audition information. OneVoice Gospel Choir One of the most passionate and expressive groups on campus, this group performs a variety of music styles and genres, creating a high-energy environment of worship that celebrates the diversity at Cedarville and within the body of Christ. The choir is open to all students (no audition required) ... and even some Cedarville staff members participate! OneVoice maintains regular ministry in chapel, at local churches and conferences, and around the world through missions trips. Watch your email in August for an opportunity to try out OneVoice at an informational meeting and rehearsal. cedarville.edu/onevoice Chapel Music Chapel meets each weekday at 10 a.m. and is a foundational part of the Cedarville experience. Services include a mix of celebration, prayer, worship, music, and great speakers. Our 3,500-seat auditorium serves as a dynamic place for the Cedarville family to be together five days a week. Some days we laugh together, some days we cry together, but each day we worship and celebrate God’s incredible grace toward us. Many students throughout the year have an opportunity to be involved in chapel by providing special music and leading worship. Several designated worship leaders put together praise bands that rotate through the chapel schedule. If you’re interested in being involved in chapel music, plan to attend an informational meeting at the start of the school year. Interruption Part of Thursday Night Live (TNL), Interruption is a concert series that highlights the artistic talents of the student body. Students enjoy studying or hanging out with friends and using this relaxed environment as an interruption from the busyness of college life. Auditions will be held on Saturday, August 31. Please stop by the SSC Information Desk to sign up for an audition. cedarville.edu/cedarvillexperience Ministry Involvement We believe that individual ministry involvement is a vital part of each student’s education and spiritual growth. Ministry isn’t required, but if you go through your years at Cedarville without getting involved in a ministry, you will have missed out on wonderful opportunities to serve God, exercise your gifts, and grow in your faith. In short, you won’t experience a Cedarville education to its fullest. Each week freshmen and sophomores are asked, via an online survey, to list the church where they worshipped and at least two other spiritual formation activities. Ministries through the Christian Ministries Division qualify as spiritual formation activities. Here’s some advice for connecting with the ministry that’s right for you: • Think about your vocational goals. Many ministries relate to the majors offered at Cedarville. A ministry related to your chosen field can help you decide if you have made the right choice and, in some cases, may lead to an internship, a reference, or employment. • Consider your interests. Look carefully at those ministries that fit your passion, personality, talents, and spiritual gifts, as well as your schedule. • Ask an upperclassman about his or her experience in the ministry you are considering. • Talk with the Christian Ministries staff. Community Ministries Are you looking for an opportunity to serve with a local church, community outreach, or spring break ministry team? Community ministry teams are formed during the first few weeks of fall semester. Teams travel to the same location each week throughout the year to assist in all types of ministries and apply lessons learned in chapel and the classroom to real-life ministry settings. You will also have the opportunity to join a spring break ministry team. These teams serve alongside ministries like Inner City Impact (Chicago), Urban Hope (Philadelphia), Service Over Self (Memphis), and Shepherds Ministries (Wisconsin). Community ministry teams provide an opportunity to express your love for God by loving and serving others! cedarville.edu/community Student Involvement Fair—Friday, August 23, 6–8 p.m. This huge event is an opportunity for students to discover ways to connect with Cedarville’s campus and serve as volunteers in the local community. You can meet with representatives from local churches and community service organizations, student organizations, student government, The Cove, Centennial Library, Campus Recreation, and more. Come enjoy free food, music, games ... and find ways to CONNECT, SERVE, and GROW! Discipleship Ministries While Community Ministries focus on outreach from campus, Discipleship Ministries focus primarily on“in-reach”to campus through the means of prayer groups and small group Bible/book studies. These groups meet weekly throughout the school year and seek to create an atmosphere for spiritual growth through accountability, prayer, open discussion, and loving community. Learn more and sign up September 3–5 in the Stevens Student Center. cedarville.edu/discipleship Missions Involvement Services (MIS) We are committed to providing students with ministry opportunities that reach beyond Cedarville to the“uttermost parts of the world.”Our MIS program allows you to experience firsthand what missions work is all about.
