(Fee: $50) NSG-8010 Biostatistics 3 hours This course provides an overview of the logic and appropriate use of statistical techniques most frequently reported in the research literature of the health professions, including common parametric and nonparametric statistics. Students will learn the logic and meaning of statistical concepts, understand the underlying assumptions and appropriate utilization of common statistical techniques to answer practice questions, interpret results from statistical analyses, determine clinical and statistical significance and grow in statistical reasoning skills. (Fee: $50) NSG-8020 Healthcare Informatics 3 hours This course provides an overview of healthcare informatics: the transformation of data into information and knowledge in order to inform decisions and actions to improve patient care and system outcomes. (Fee: $50) NSG-8040 EBP 2: Application of Scholarly Inquiry 3 hours This course prepares DNP students to critically appraise and translate evidence into practice environments. NSG-8060 Population Health and Epidemiology 3 hours This course provides a foundation to engage in effective partnerships to promote equitable population health outcomes. Students will learn the concepts of epidemiology and the relevant statistical approaches to describe the health of populations. (Fee: $50) NSG-8070 Advocacy and Resource Management 3 hours This course synthesizes leadership theory and organizational models, and the essential roles of advocacy and resource management in complex healthcare systems. Students will discover the key concepts of equal access to care, preserving human dignity, preserving patient autonomy and respect. NSG-8080 3 hours Ethical Healthcare Delivery in Organizations and Systems This course prepares students for leadership in the integration of ethical theories, biblical principles and professional practice standards as a foundation for strategic decision-making in complex healthcare systems. (Fee: $50) NSG-8100 Scholarly Practice Integration 1 hour This course provides the DNP student opportunity to integrate scholarship to improve population health outcomes through the development, synthesis, and implementation of a scholarly project. The student will develop goals to achieve learning objectives related to advanced nursing education and professional core competencies. The student is required to complete a minimum of 500 practice experience hours through the DNP program. This course is designed to be repeated up to five times. Prerequisite: NSG-8000 EBP 1: Foundation of Scholarly Inquiry. (Fee: $100) P Pharmacy (PHAR) PHAR-5100 3 hours Introduction to Chemistry and Mathematical Principles in Pharmacy The purpose of this course is to provide students entering the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program at Cedarville University School of Pharmacy a primer in basic concepts in general chemistry, physics, and calculus. These basic concepts will provide students the foundational knowledge required to understand concepts in courses that are part of the PharmD curriculum (e.g., medicinal chemistry and biochemistry, pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics, pharmacogenomics, immunology, etc.). PHAR-6110 Introduction to Pharmacy Practice 1 hour This course will focus on understanding the U.S. healthcare system and contemporary models of pharmacy practice. Key topics will include the regulations applicable to the practice of pharmacy in preparation for pharmacy internship experiences, prescription interpretation and fulfillment processes, health/ pharmacy literacy, patient safety and communication, cultural literacy, and models of professionalism. Prerequisite: P1 or approval of instructor.
