2024–25 Graduate Academic Catalog Page 71 School of Nursing Doctor of Nursing Practice Program Certification Graduates of the Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) track are qualified to seek national certification through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), or American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN). Graduates of the Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) track are qualified to seek national certification through the American Association of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board (AANPCB) or American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Graduates of the Nursing Leadership in Healthcare Improvement (NLHI) track meet the education requirements to seek Certification in Executive Nursing Practice (CENP) through the American Organization for Nursing Leadership Credentialing Center (ADNL-CC). Graduates of the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner – Primary Care (PNP) track are qualified to seek national certification through the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB). Licensure Prospective students should be aware that each state and U.S. territory may have different professional licensure requirements governing nursing occupations. Cedarville University ensures that its educational programs meet the educational prerequisites for professional licensure within the State of Ohio; however, if you reside outside of the state of Ohio, you should contact the Director of Graduate Nursing Programs at Cedarville University regarding the rules and regulations pertaining to licensure and clinical supervision in your state/territory before beginning the DNP and MSN programs. Students are strongly encouraged to check with their state licensure board to confirm licensure requirements and to obtain additional guidance as needed from that board and the Director of Graduate Nursing Programs at Cedarville University. Clinical/Practicum/Practice Requirements Refer to the School of Nursing Graduate Nursing Student Handbook for further details. Requirements associated with all courses include: • Successful completion of the prerequisite courses and enrollment in the corequisite courses as specified in this graduate catalog. • Earned a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher in graduate courses at Cedarville University. • Completion of state and federal background checks including fingerprinting is required. A criminal record check that indicates evidence of felony conviction (or certain misdemeanor convictions) may result in action including, but not limited to, dismissal from the School of Nursing. • Provide evidence of current CPR (BLS for the healthcare provider) certification from the American Heart Association. Certification must include both written and skills exams. • Provide evidence of medical eligibility for clinical from a healthcare provider (MD, PA, APRN, DO). • Provide evidence of current immunization status (refer to the School of Nursing Graduate Nursing Student Handbook for a list of required immunizations). • Level of technology sufficient for efficient use of clinical/ practicum tracking system (as determined by faculty). • Provide evidence of personal health insurance. Clinical/Practicum/Practice Credit Hour Equivalencies Students earn 1 credit hour per 100 direct credit clinical/ practicum hours. Tuition and Fees The estimated cost of attendance equals basic costs plus variable costs. These are estimates and may vary. Prior to each term a student will receive a billing invoice, generated from the Cashiers Office, based upon enrollment information at that time. An online payment calculator is available to evaluate the different payment plans. Tuition cost for the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program for the 2024–25 academic year is $750 per semester credit hour. Audit is $375 per semester hour. There is a one-time program fee of $500 for the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program. There is an additional DNP program fee according to track: AGACNP is $1,500; FNP is $1,500, PNP is $1,500; and NLHI is $250. The graduation fee for the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program for the 2024–25 academic year is $125. Course fees vary and are listed per course in this catalog under Graduate-Level Course Descriptions. Transfer Credits Transfer credits for the BSN to DNP are allowed up to 18 semester hours. Transfer credits for the DNP Post-Graduate are allowed up to nine semester hours. Transfer credits for the DNP Post-Graduate NP are allowed up to 12 semester hours. The School of Nursing and the director of graduate nursing programs will evaluate courses on an individual basis on the following transfer credit criteria: • The course is equivalent to the required course offered in the DNP program. • The courses were taken at a regionally accredited college/ university. • Courses transferred from institutions where quarter hours are awarded will be adjusted using the standard quarter hour/ semester hour calculation. • Students enrolled in NP tracks: Advanced Pathophysiology and Advanced Physical Assessment transfer credit will not be accepted if course was completed more than five years before enrolling in first graduate course at Cedarville University. Advanced Pharmacology must be repeated. Academic Advising Plan Upon admission into the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program, each student is assigned a faculty advisor (School of Nursing) and a program advisor (The Graduate School). The faculty advisor provides professional guidance and monitors progress throughout the length of study. The program advisor assists in helping students with class scheduling and linking students to graduate support resources. Professional Behavior and Conduct Standards Nursing students are expected to adhere to University, School of Nursing, and professional standards as published in the respective handbooks. The faculty reserves the right at any time to enact probation or remove from the nursing program students who violate any of these standards; exhibit unprofessional, immoral, illegal, or unethical behavior; or who compromise the safety of self or others.
