The focus will be descriptive models using a variety of techniques like linear programming, nonlinear optimization, decision analysis, simulation, and project scheduling. Prerequisite: Undergraduate course in business statistics or equivalent competency. BUS-7100 Directed Research 3 hours This course provides an opportunity to explore areas not covered in normal course structure or provides a focused project that enhances the learning experience. The topic and project outline must have prior approval by the assigned faculty member and the director of each program involved. With instructor permission, this course may be extended until the end of the next semester. C Communication (COM) COM-6001 Communication Theory and Leadership 3 hours This course is an advanced selective survey of communication theory as it relates to organizational leadership. Students will learn the breadth of the communication field of study, how to place a theory within that context, and how to go in depth into a selection of essential leadership and communication theories. COM-6100 Communication Research Methods 3 hours This course introduces the student to select communication research methods meant to facilitate practical application to realworld situations. Core skills include data collection, methodological rigor and validity, data analysis, the presentation of findings, and practical application of findings. COM-6201 Team Dynamics 3 hours This course explores group dynamics within organizations with the aim of increasing team effectiveness, cohesion, and morale. Using applicable theories, the student will learn how to navigate managerial aspects of teamwork within a variety of settings. COM-6202 Strategic Planning and Communication 3 hours This graduate-level course integrates strategic planning principles with effective communication practices within organizational contexts. Students examine decision-making frameworks and strategic communication initiatives while incorporating biblical ethics and leadership principles. COM-6301 Public Opinion and Communication 3 hours Public opinion plays a vital role in shaping society's attitudes and decision-making. You will learn how public opinion is measured, the role of communication in the shaping of public opinion, and the impact that shifting public opinion has on a variety of outcomes. COM-6990 Exploring Communication Literature 1 hour This course provides the essential skills for conducting a thorough research review. Students will locate, evaluate, and critique relevant research to build a solid foundation for original research. The course will emphasize effective secondary research strategies, critical analysis of research claims, and integration of literature into a cohesive narrative that justifies primary research aims and goals. COM-6999 Communication Leadership in Context 2 hours This capstone course synthesizes the student's studies into a practical application of communication and leadership principles in real-world contexts. Students will engage in analysis through case studies or applied research, demonstrating their ability to apply what they have learned to their professional environments. Cybersecurity (CYBS) CYBS-6200 Introduction to Cybersecurity 3 hours This survey course will provide an overview of cybersecurity, including the threat landscape, threat intelligence, security solutions, and security incidence response. This course addresses the challenges in securing cyberspace and the goals of cybersecurity in the areas of confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CYBS-6250 Foundations of Risk Management 3 hours This comprehensive course addresses financial, operational, brand, and technological business risks. There is an emphasis on assessing threats, evaluating controls, and implementing policies and procedures to mitigate or solve them. The course will also emphasize business continuity and risk management programs. CYBS-6270 Cybersecurity Law and Policy 3 hours This course provides an in-depth analysis of U.S. and international laws that apply to data security, data breaches, sensitive information safeguarding, law enforcement surveillance, cybercriminal combat, privacy, and many other cybersecurity issues. CYBS-6280 Enterprise Security Architecture 3 hours This course will integrate an understanding of information security elements into an overall enterprise security architecture. This understanding will include the conceptual design of the network security infrastructure, related security mechanisms, and related security policies and procedures. This course will identify architecture tradeoffs for choices in mitigating cybersecurity threats.
