Page 46 2025–26 Graduate Academic Catalog School of Biblical and Theological Studies Master of Theological Studies Master of Theological Studies Mission The mission of the Master of Theological Studies (MTS) program at Cedarville University is to equip graduates with an essential understanding of the Bible and theology as well as ministry-specific skillsets. Students will grow in their knowledge of Scripture and its application to the Christian life and various ministry contexts. The 15-hour core curriculum serves as the foundation for 21-hour concentrations. Areas of Focus The Master of Theological Studies program contains a core curriculum taken by every student. This 15-hour core grounds students in Bbible and theology. Then students are able to choose an area of concentration to tailor their program to their specific ministry interests: biblical counseling, biblical leadership, ministry, and worship and theology. Students affiliated with approved partnering organizations are eligible to take the partnering track of the ministry concentration. Program Objectives Upon completion of the Master of Theological Studies program, graduates should be able to: 1. Understand the contribution of each book of the Bible and how it relates to the message of the Bible as a whole. 2. Explain key doctrines of the faith from their biblical basis with reference to historical development. 3. Demonstrate skill in properly interpreting the Bible. 4. Articulate a biblical understanding of the public ministry of the Word. 5. Apply biblical and theological concepts in ministry.
