Pll.O}'F.SSOll .\lcCtrnsr,. ~:Y, Dlreclor. ln this department much attention is given to tho development of a pleasing, cultured, lyrical voice, iucluding the fundamental principles of correct breathing, vowel ,;ot11Hb, and articulation. Gesture, as the natural and spontaneous outcome of the emotions, is taught. This insures ea,;y and graceful bodily action in public speaking. A correct interpretation of the selections for study is tho fundamental factor in successful public reading. The principlce for such interpretation arc therefore taught. Much time is de– voted to the finished and polished platform rendering of oration,; and selections from the best literature. ELECTIVE ORATORY. Elective work in oratory to tho amount of eight credits will be counted towards tho degree of Bachelor of Arts. Ono lesson a week for one semester coustitutes the work requirnd for one credit. Students electing oratory must pay the usual fees for les• sous in oratory in addition to their collegiate tuition fees. RATES OF TUITION. Tho rates of tuition in the Departme11t of 01·atory arc tweh·e dollars per semester, payable in advance, or seventy.five cents for a single lesson. A contingent fee of 0110 dollar per semester is required of all students in oratory who have not paid the three· dollar contingent fee in some other department of the College.
