CEDARVILLE COLLEGE STATE NORMAL COURSE In order to secure the degree of A. B. in the four-year normal curriculum for High School Teachers the following subjects must be chosen among the electives in addition to the required subjects:- English Bible, (six semester-hours); Foreign La,nguage (from twelve to sixteen semester-hours, including two years' work in one language or one year's work in ea,ch of two languages); History (three semester-hours, a required course in American History); Oratory (four semester-hours); Argumentation and Debate (four emester-hours); General Psychology (three semester-hours); Logic (three semester-hours); Ethics (three semester-hours); Apologetics (three semester-hours); A Major Study (eighteen semester-hours, ac– cording to the rules in the Arts-Education Course); A Minor Study (ten semester-hours, a.ccording to the rules in the Arts-Education Course); Elective Studies (in addition to the above to total one– hundred and twenty-eight semester-hours. Requirements for the Degree of Bachelor of Arts and the State High School Certificate The above curriculum is intended for those who wish a regular collegiate education and in addition thorough preparation for teaching in high schools. Its completion requires residence work to the amount of one hundred and twenty-eight credits or semester hours. Upon the completion of this course the student receives from Cedarville College a diploma of graduation, a,nd the Degree of Bach– elor of Arts. From the Department of Public Instruction of the State of Ohio he receives, without examination, a provisional certificate en– titling him to teach in any high school, or to superintend schools in any school district in the state for a period of four years. After the holder of this provisional certificate has taught upon it successfully for twenty-four months, he is given, also without examination, a state life high school certificate.
