MUSIC DEPARTMENT Languages. horus. Modern song literature. History of musk Harmony. Psychology. Piano and accompanying. For graduation and diploma, the student must give a Public Recital. Pipe-Organ.-Pre-requisite-Intermediate Piano Course or its equivalent. Stainer's Primer, Nilson's Playing, Rheinberger Trios, Buck's Pedal Phrasing, Hamilton's Art of Hymn Playing, Bach's preludes and Fugues, Mendelssohn, Merkel and Guilmant Son– atas, with compositions by Baptiste, Lemare, Buck, Guilmant and others. Acquirement of good pedal technique, good taste in hymn playing, ready sight-reading and accompanying are insisted on. The time required for completion of this course depends upon the aptitude of the pupil. For graduation and diploma the student must give a public recital. Chorus Class.-All college students are eligible to try · out for the Mi.-xed Chorus, which rehearses twice a week. This is excellent training in part singing, in expression, and in the interpretation of some of the great choral works. The Girls Glee Club is open to all the girls o:£ the college. This chorus rehearses twice a week. A Male Quarette and a Female Quarette also rehearse twice a week. These quartettes sing at various functions throughout the year. Through the courtesy of Don. R. Falkenberg of the New Testament League, Cedarville College has sent an organization to Columbus once a month to broadcast from station WAIU. Note-Students' recitals will be held bi-monthly. Public recitals will be given at intervals during the year. The benefit that pupils derive from playing in these recitals is inestimable. Stringed lnstruments.-Students desiring to concen– trate on Violin, Violincello or Viola must satisfy the examiners of a certain proficiency with the instrument of their choice. The equivalent of a four-year course in Violin should pre– pare the student to perform a Bach Sonata; Concerto by Men– delssohn or Bruch; Concerto by Vieuxtemps or Wieniawsky and a work selected by the instructor. The equivalent to the "four-year course in Violincello would make possible the student's performance of a Bach Sonata,
