GENERAL SURVEY OF AMERICAN LITERATURE Representative works of the great American writers from the earliest history of the nation to the present. DEVELOPMENT OF THE DRAMA A history of the drama beginning with the Greek Drama and fol1owing its progress through the centuries. Repre– sentative plays from each important stage of development are read. For advanced students. Elective. Three hours, one semester. Professor Angevine. 10. SHAKESPEARE A careful study and analysis is made of some of Shake– speare's tragedies and comedies. Others are read rapidly, Written critiques required. Elective. Three hours a week one semester.
