DESCRIPTION OF COURSES 45 200 PRINCIPLES AND ORGANIZATION OF HEALTH EDU- CATION (Men and Women) For those who are interested in or responsible for the or– ganization and conduct of health education in the public schools. Emphasis upon routine examinations and recogni– tion of deviations from normal health. Three credit hours, second semester. 300 PRINCIPLES OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION (Men and Women) · Dealing with the fundamentals of physical education, the various pertinent theoretical considerations, aims, objec– tives, services and specific activities of physical education. Two credi~ hours, first semester. 400 ORGANIZATION AND ADMINISTRATION OF PHYSI- CAL EDUCATION (Men and Women) Administrative relationships and procedures in the conduct of physical education. Topics considered: preparation of general administrative policies, excuses and substitutes for the program, credit and awards, gymnasium facilities, state responsibility for physical education, playgrounds and ath– letic fields, etc. Two credit hours, first semester. 500 ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY (Men and Women) An introductory course in the structure, functions and re– lationships of the human body. Elective. Three credit hours, first semester. 600 AQUATIC PEDAGOGY (Men) Instruction in the various methods of teaching swimming and diving, life saving, beach patrol, care of swimming areas and safety in and about the water. One credit hour, second semester. Elective. 700 SPORTS OFFICIATING (Men) Modern methods. of officiating athletic contest s. Local re– quirement of forty hours of officiating and for ty hours of coaching before grade is given for the course. One credit hour, both semesters. ENGLISH PROFESSOR SANTMYER 1-2. REMEDIAL ENGLISH Remedial English for students deficient in reading ability and in knowledge of English Grammar. The course will include analysis of expository and argumentative essays or ~peeches, to give practice in reading, and a review of English Grammar, with practice in parsing, analysis and diagramming, and enough writing to encourage good Eng– lish habits. Three hours a week, throughout the year.
