DESCRIPTION OF COURSES 27 DESCRIPTION OF COURSES Bible: Professors Frederick Carlsen and Jurkat 1. Old Testament History A study of the Pentateuch and Early Prohpets, better known as the historical literature of the Old Testament with the idea of dis– covering the development of the Hebrew nation and religion. 2. A Study of the Prophets A survey course covering the writing prophets. The goals will be to discover the situations out of which the prophets rose and to get a picture of their works. 3. The Life of Jesus This will be a study of the life of the Savior as recorded in the four gospels. The course will also aid the student in an understand– ing of the reasons for four accounts of the life of Jesus. 4. The Life of Paul It will be the goal of this course to discover the missionary through a study of his life and works. 7-8. Old Testament Literature A study of the writings of the Old Testament. Elective. Three hours a week, throughout the year. Not given every year. 9-10. New Testament Literature A study of the writings of the New Testament. Elective. Three hours a week, throughout the year. Not given every year. . Biology: Professor Spotts 3-4 Nature Study Designed to cultivate observation and appreciation of the com– mon things about us in plant life, animal life, and the earth and sky with suggested methods for teaching nature-study in the elementary schools . One hour credit each semester throughout the year. 5. Invertebrate Zoology Study of the classification, morphology, physiology and life his– tories of the r epresentative invertebrate animals. Two classes and two two-hour laboratory periods per week. Elective. First semester. 6. Vertebrate Zoology A comparative study of the typical vertebrates. Human com– par isons . Laboratory dissection. Two class periods and two two~ hour laborator y per iods per week. Elective. Prerequisite Biology 5. Second semester.
