Division of Social Science The division of Social Science comprises the depart– ments of A) History, B) Sociology, C) Geography, D) Political Science, and E) Business Administration. This division seeks to present to the student the origin and development of ideas and institutions; to aid the student in gaining a better perspective of the facts of history, the functions of government, the complexities of economics and the nature of society; to acquaint the student with a practical appreciation of the methods and tools of original research projects; to pro– vide the student with an opportunity to formulate and express the results of investigation and study; and finally, to lead the student to see the plan of God through the centuries by point– ing out and emphasizing the harmony which exists between the true facts of secular knowledge and the infallible truths of the Bible. Requirements for a Major in History: Social Science (26 semester hours) including History 101, 102, 201, 202, 410, and not less than fourteen hours in upper division courses; six hours in Political Science including 261-262; and three hours in economics or sociology. Requirements for a Minor in History: Social Science (15 semester hours) including History 101, 102, 201, 202. Requirements for a Major in Social Studies: Social Science (40 semester hours) including History 101, 102, 201, 202; Sociology 230; Geography 250; Political Science 261-262; Economics 271-272; and ten hours of selected courses in any of the above named subject fields. 67
