Requirements for the Elementary Standard Provisional Certificate. Meet all general coUege requirements except foreign language. Prospective candidates for teaching certificates must be emotionally, morally, and physi– cally fit; free from objectionable uncorrected speech, hearing, and visual problems; and capable of speaking and writing correct English. An Eng– lish proficiency examination is given at the end of the Sophomore year. Successful student teaching is also a requirement for certification. In order to be eligible for student teaching at elementary level, the student must have a 2.0 cumulative grade point average and a 2.0 grade point average in their professional education courses. Students must have completed all education courses except those in the professional block, and have a total of 90 semester hours.
