HEALTH AND PHYSICAL EDUCATION Cedarville College HEALTH AND PHYSICAL EDUCATION Assistant Professors: Donald Callan, Chairman; June F. Kearney; Joy Mackay; Dennis Olson The division of Health and Physical Education is comp1ised of A) Activity Courses, B) Health Education, C) Recreation, and D) Physi– cal Education. This division seeks to provide a program of physical development and education in the fundamentals of organized play, a sense of good sportsmanship in the total development of wholesome and effective Christian character, and a course of study designed to aid those looking forward to teaching health and· physical education or coaching athletics. Theory courses, along with practical experience, are designed to prepare students to teach physical education, to work in various fields of camping and recreation, and to administer youth activities in church– es and youth organizations. Bachelor of Arts Programs Requirements for a Major in Health and Physical Education. Thirty-two semester hours. General Education requirements of Physical Education 101, 102, 201 and 202 are not required of majors. Majors are required to. spend two semesters in general physical education as assistants without credit. Major Program for Me,n. Thirty-two semester hours, inclliding Health Education 121, 123, 3l0; Physical Education 110, 214, 215, 294, 391, 392, 396, 397, and 492; Biology 211-212. Major Program for Women. Thirty-two semester hours, including Health Education 121, 123, 310; Physical Education 110, 213, 215, 293, 393, 396, 397 ,and 492; Biology 211-212. Requirements for a Minor. Fifteen semester hours. Those in– terested in obtaining a minor must consult with division personnel. 'special– ization in camping, recreation, major sports, or general physical education may be obtained.
