110 CEDARVILLE COLLEGE 404 HISTORY OF RECENT AND CONTEMPORARY AMERICA An intensive study of the domestic and foreign policies of the United States in the twentieth century. Particular emphasis is upon the emergence of the nation as a world power, the progressive movement, World War I, the properity decade, the great depression, the New Deal, World War II, and post-war problems. Four credit hours 405 EARLY AMERICAN HISTORY (1970-71) An analysis of the development of American civilization from colonization to 1820. Political, religious, social, economic and cultural institutions will be examined. Five credit hours 406 THE NEGRO IN AMERICAN HISTORY An in depth study of the role of the Negro from the colonial period to the present. Key Negro spokesmen will be studied such as Booker T. Washing– ton, W.E.B. DuBois, Roy Wilkens, Rev. Martin Luther King, and Stokely Carmichael.
