EDUCATION AND PSYCHOLOGY 65 350 THE TEACHING OF LANGUAGE ARTS AND SOCIAL STUDIES Prerequisite: EP210, EP260 Appraisal of the language arts and social studies--objectives, techniques of instruction, experience units, teaching aids and resource materials. 400 INDEPENDENT STUDY IN EDUCATION Pre-requisite: 15 hours in Education and Psychology Five credit Hours Investigation of contemporary topics in education through reading, writ- ing, or creative projects. One to four credit hours 440 SPECIAL STUDENT TEACHING Occasionally unusual situations arise which entail special provisions. Nine to fifteen credit hours 450 SUPERVISED TEACHING AND SEMINAR All directed teaching is done in nearby schools. One quarter must be re– served. Assignments are made during the fust part of the quarter. All required education courses must be completed. Fifteen credit hours THE DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHOLOGY The objectives of the Department of Psychology are: 1. To aid students in their personal adjustment to everyday life through an understanding of human behavior. 2. To provide courses in psychology necessary for teacher certification. 3. To provide a core of courses in the discipline that will enable students to gain an appreciation of the study of behavior and background necessary for further education.
