BIBLICAL EDUCATION 51 311, 312, 313 ACTS AND THE PAULINE EPISTLES-A, W, Sp ( 1970-71 and alternate years) An analysis of the Book of Acts, ministry of Paul, and outstanding prob– lems and significant events of Acts. Exegetical study of the Pauline Epistles with careful consideration of the historical background, local conditions, the great doctrines of the Christian faith, and the instruction in the Epistles for the Christian life. Three credit hours each quarter 314, 315, 316 THE GENERAL EPISTLES ( 1971-72 and alternate years) An analysis and exposition of the Books of Hebrews and James, and the Epistles of Peter, John, and Jude. Designed to show the character and con– tent of these Epistles, with special attention given to their doctrinal, practical, and eschatological values. Special consideration is given in the Book of Hebrews, to the Position and Perfection of Christ, and to His fulfillment of the Priesthood of Melchizedek and the types and shadows of the Old Testa– ment sacrificial system. PHILOSOPHY 220 INTRODUCTION TO PHILOSOPHY-A, W, Sp A survey of the principal issues in western philosophy, covering such areas as Epistemology, Metaphysics, Aesthetics, and the major systems of philoso– phy. Five credit hours 221 HISTORY OF ANCIENT AND MEDIEVAL PHILOSOPHY-A Prerequisite: 220 A survey of men and movements in Greek and Christian Philosophy from Thales to Aquinas. Select, representative writings of the philosophers will be read. Five credit hours 222 HISTORY OF MODERN PHILOSOPHY-W Prerequisite: 220 A study of the principal philosophers from Descartes through Nietzsche. The development of rationalism and empiricism with the Kantian synthesis and its results will be emphasized. Five credit hours 223 ETHICS-Sp A study and evaluation of the major theories and problems of moral philosophy. Five credit hours 322 LoGic-W A study of the principies of correct and fallacious reasoning involved in traditional logic and modem logic. Five credit hours 423 CONTEMPORARY PHILOSOPHY-Sp Prereqttisite: 220 A survey of the more significant European and American philosophies of the twentieth century. Primary consideration will be given to existentialism, pragmatism, and anyalytic philosophies. Five credit hours
