Interdisciplinary Studies Program The Interdisciplinary Studies program is under the supervision of the "IS" Steering Committee, which is composed of the following faculty : Harmon Bergen, English; James M. Grier, Philosophy; David L. Matson, Music; Allen L. Monroe, Social Science; J. Murray Murdoch, History (Program Coor– dinator) . The Interdisciplinary Studies program seeks to stimulate and expand the student's understanding of the inter-relations among the various disciplines and Christian Theism. Specific " IS" courses are open to the entire college family contingent upon class limitations. The Interdisciplinary Studies major is designed to combine depth of knowledge in a particular field with a specific study of the inter-relationships found in the liberal arts . The student examines the basic concepts, techniques, and problems which are shared mutually by fields related to and including his own . He gains a wider perspective of his particular area of concentration by studying the comparative bases of related disciplines. Christian Theism is utilized as the integrating principle in the study of the liberal arts. Cooperative (team) teaching efforts in courses designated "IS" give the student the opportunity to see instructors defend and discuss their Christian world views.
