1976-1977 Academic Catalog
3 Dear Friend: Your interest in this catalog implies you are seriously thinking about the importance of a college education. We hope you will prayerfully consider what Cedarville has to offer and then select our college as a place of preparation for your chosen profession and a lifetime of Christian service. Without reservation Cedarville College is a Christian college. We believe there is much more to a Christian college than a few required Bible courses. A Christian college must have Christian students, professors, and staff people who are interested in seeing that Biblical truth is integrated into the curriculum and every other area of the student's life. A Christian college must be founded on and controlled by sound Scriptural con– victions and be unwilling to sacrifice Christian conduct and Biblical standards. It must have complete control over the type of professors it hires, and be concerned enough about the students and the institution to dismiss students who break the rules. We believe that standards for student conduct should be uncompromisingly in har– mony with God's Word. It is our conviction that dress and appearance standards must reflect application of Scriptural principles regarding modesty and moderation. In keeping with this principle, Cedarville College submits itself to Biblical authority and is administered by godly faculty, consistent administration, and a dedicated Christian board of trustees. Cedarville College has academic excellence as one of its important goals. In offer– ing an education to young people entrusted to it, we seek to provide instruction equal, or superior, to that found in the secular colleges of the day. Because of its Biblical convictions, Cedarville College cannot compromise with the world, neither can we withdraw ourselves so that there is no witness to the world we are commanded by Christ to win. The physical facilities of our college are being improved as funds are made avail– able. As you visit the campus you will see a new library building and a new science center, as well as new dormitories. A new chapel will be ready for the 1976-77 col– lege year. Cedarville is a Baptist college supported by Bible-believing churches for the benefit of all Christian young people regardless of their denominational affiliation. Our stu– dents and graduates are encouraged to serve enthusiastically in the local churches. The administration, faculty and staff of our college desire to have a part in assisting committed young people to achieve worthwhile goals in life. If we can be of help to you we shall be grateful. The following pages outline the academic offerings of the college. Visit the campus if you can and meet our faculty and staff. Then you will become acquainted with people who are concerned about each individual's academic, social and physical development. Sincerely in Christ Dr. James T. Jeremiah
