The structure and processes of social life are studied. 240 Marriage and the Family - A, W, Sp, Su 5 hours A study of the scientific knowledge which exists about mate selection, the courtship proc– ess, and the adjustment problems of marriage. 272 Family and Society- W 5 hours An examination of marriage and family patterns in various cultures, with emphasis on the relationship of contemporary social movements and the family. 273 Social Movements - SP 4 hours A study of the influence of ideas and institutions upon Social Movements in America. 330 History of Social Work - SP 4 hours A survey of man's efforts to facilitate human development and to ameliorate adverse social conditions through social work. Including a review of the development of the various fields of social work such as criminology/penology, mental health, public health, and poor relief. Em– phasis on the relationship of reform movements to social work, and on the development of the modern Christian origins of reform and social work. The impact of Freudian thought on the changing direction of social work in America will be evaluated.
