King, Pam Diehl Assistant Professors: John McGillivray, Keith Clark ucation Part-Time Faculty: Sandi Schlappi, Ken Evans, Harold Green, Becky Kuhn, Eliza– beth Shearer This department seeks to provide a program of physical development and edu– cation in the fundamentals of organized play, a sense of good sportsmanship in the total development of wholesome and effective Christian character, and a course of study designed to aid those looking forward to teaching health and phys– ical education or coaching athletics. Theory courses, along with practical experience, are designed to prepare stu– dents for work in physical education, various fields of camping, recreation, or to administer youth activities in churches and youth organizations. A high personal physical fitness standard is expected to be maintained by each student majoring in Physical Education. The major student's fitness status will be evaluated each year by a required 1-1 /2 mile run. Students taking physical education for fulfillment of the general education re– quirement (3 quarter hours) may select from the following activities as offered dur– ing specific quarters. An aerobic program will be a vital part of all general Physical Education offerings, Basketball, Handball, Raquetball, Soccer, Softball, Squash, Volleyball, Wrestling, Badminton, Self Defense, Aerobics, Archery, Backpacking, Basic Movement, Bowling, Basic Camping, Wilderness Camping, Winter Camping, Canoeing, Cycling, Fencing, Field Hockey, Golf, Judo, Marathoning, Orienteering, Rock Climbing, Sailing, Skiing, Slimnastics, Swimming, Tennis, Track, Trampoline.
