Attention is given to the dominant Christian influences that have tended to mold the philosophy and ideology of our cultural, social, and political development. 91-200 Introduction to Historiography - Sp 4 hours An introduction to the history of historical writing, methods of research, and the philosophy of history. Required of history ma– jors and minors. Should be taken in the sophomore year. 91-204 Modern Britain and the Empire-Commonwealth - A 5 hours A study of the development of Great Britain as a world power and the contributions which she has made to the dispersion of li– bertarian ideals and institutions around the world since the eight– eenth century. Emphasis is given to nineteenth and twentieth century po– litical and intellectual movements. Emphasis is given to noted artists and scholars and their contribution to the modern world-and-life view. Political, religious, social, economic, and cultural institutions will be examined.
